Coaching Resources
Contact us if you would like to arrange a coaching session for your school with one of our coaches. We can also help out if you would like to have us train someone to be a coach for your school cue sports team.
Otherwise, the videos below will provide instruction on the valuable basics that every player should practice to master the fundamentals of cue sports.
Tutorial 1 - The Bridge
In this video the basics of the bridge are covered. The bridge, which is the hand you rest your cue on, is much like the foundation of a house in that you build the rest of your game around it. A shaky bridge means your game is not going to be much better! However, a solid and stable bridge is going to set you up as a solid player.
TUTORIAL 2 - The Stance
How you stand is also another key foundation of your game. Like the bridge, the stance, or the way you stand, is key to your game. If you are not steady or you are unstable in the way you stand, the rest of your game will suffer. In this video Mark and Marco show you the basics to get your stance right.
TUTORIAL 3 - Holding the Cue
In this video Mark and Marco show you how to hold the cue. Master this and you're almost on your way to mastering the fundamentals of cue sports!
TUTORIAL 4 - The Stroke
A nice smooth stroke is key to a successful players game. In this video tutorial Mark and Marco guide you through the basics of the stroke. Put it together with the bridge, the stance, and holding a cue and you're just about there!
TUTORIAL 5 - Aiming
Let's work on the final step to successfully potting a ball, how to aim. Mark and Marco go over aiming in this video tutorial, showing what you need to do to sink that pot, and your opponent!
TUTORIAL 6 - The Stop Shot
Now we've got the basics under control, let's step it up and learn some basics in cue ball control. In this video Mark and Marco show you how to play the stop shot, or how to make the white ball stop once it's made contact with the ball you are aiming at.
TUTORIAL 7 - The Follow-through
In this next tutorial on cue ball control, Mark and Marco show you how to make the cue ball roll on after it has made contact with the ball you are aiming at. This shot is known as the follow-through shot.
TUTORIAL 8 - The Screw Back Shot
The money shot and the one shot all beginners want to be able to play. If you've mastered the basics in our previous tutorial videos, the screw back will be a breeze. Mark and Marco show you how to shot like a pro and impress your friends (and not rip the cloth trying!).
TUTORIAL 9 - Nine Ball
While 8 Ball is the most commonly known cue sport around the world, 9 Ball is probably the biggest of the professional pool games. In this video the basic rules of the game of 9 Ball are covered.
Tutorial 10 - Selecting a Cue
Now that you've got the basic skills, your game will benefit from the consistency found from having your own cue. Everyone will look for different things in their cue of choice and it's important to get the one that 'feels right' for you. Mark and Marco discuss some of the different aspects of cue selection in this video.
Tutorial 11 - Playing Equipment
In this video Mark gets Marco to show us what is in his case. At the same time, he explains to us what some of the main items you should have in your playing kit, and what is nice to have in your case.
